Key Points

  1. Robox handed over its first 100 vehicles built in Abu Dhabi under a Made in the UAE badge.
  2. The cars came from an AI-driven plant built inside KEZAD in six months.
  3. The delivery gives the UAE its first locally assembled luxury SUV production run.

The latest:

The first 100 cars carrying a Made in the UAE badge rolled out of Abu Dhabi, delivered by Robox from its artificial-intelligence manufacturing centre in KEZAD. The batch, branded the Distinguished Emirati Edition, came out of a partnership between the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, the Abu Dhabi Investment Office and the company, according to WAM.

Details:

  • The product: Each vehicle in the batch is a luxury-class sport utility vehicle produced through a numbered, precision process built around regional market requirements, according to WAM. The Made in the UAE mark is carried on the body of the car itself, tying the Distinguished Emirati Edition directly to its place of manufacture.
  • The plant: Robox built its Abu Dhabi facility in six months, combining a manufacturing centre, an artificial-intelligence laboratory and a design studio on one site. The company says the setup supports plans to widen manufacturing inside the UAE and serve regional markets from the emirate.
  • The partners: The 100 cars are the product of a three-way arrangement between the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, the Abu Dhabi Investment Office and Robox. The investment office backed the company’s establishment and the expansion of its operations, in line with the Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategy.
  • The policy frame: The project sits under the Make it in the Emirates initiative and the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology, known as Operation 300bn, which targets stronger national industrial capacity, faster adoption of advanced technology and a larger industrial contribution to the economy.
  • The ministry: Hassan Jassim Al Nuaimi, undersecretary at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, said the country is widening its advanced manufacturing base and accelerating adoption of artificial intelligence to diversify the economy and raise competitiveness.
  • Supply chains: Al Nuaimi framed the launch as a chance to attract further quality investment and localise knowledge at a time of global supply-chain pressure, and said work would continue with partners on developing local supply chains and building a more diversified, resilient industrial base.
  • Abu Dhabi’s read: Mohamed Ali Al Kamali, chief executive for trade and industry at the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, called the handover a landmark in the company’s expansion and said it demonstrates an ecosystem that helps global firms establish operations in the emirate and move into international markets.
  • The company: Robox founder and chief executive Jarvis said the first batch marks a milestone in a long-term commitment to Abu Dhabi and the UAE, and that the company built manufacturing, artificial-intelligence and design capabilities in a short period, allowing it to produce vehicles locally for regional customers.
  • Next phase: Jarvis said the company will work with partners to expand manufacturing, develop local capabilities and strengthen supply chains, aiming to establish the UAE as a base from which it manufactures cars. No production target or timeline was announced.

Background:

The Made in the UAE mark is used to certify locally manufactured goods. The federal government has tied it to Operation 300bn, the national industrial strategy aimed at raising manufacturing’s share of the economy and reducing reliance on imported finished products.

Between the lines:

Both government partners presented the handover less as a car launch than as proof of concept: that the emirate can convert foreign investment into finished high-value goods assembled on its own soil. The six-month build-out and the choice to put manufacturing, design and an AI lab under one roof are the parts officials pointed to when describing the model they want other investors to replicate.

What’s next

Watch for Robox’s next production run at KEZAD, any disclosed output targets for the Distinguished Emirati Edition, and which regional markets the company names first as it moves beyond the initial 100 vehicles.
